Entrepreneur in Residence (EIR)

An Entrepreneur in Residence (EIR) is a temporary, typically senior-level role within a venture capital firm, private equity fund, accelerator, or corporation. EIRs are experienced entrepreneurs brought in to advise portfolio companies, evaluate new investment opportunities, or incubate new business ideas.

EIR roles typically last 6–18 months and offer entrepreneurs access to funding networks, operational resources, and deal pipelines while the host firm benefits from the EIR’s expertise and market insight. Often, an EIR position culminates in launching a new venture backed by the host firm.
